Workers at a North Carolina business that was robbed at gunpoint had no trouble identifying the suspect as a former employee -- because her mask fell off while she was committing the crime.
Natasha Otero, 25, has been arrested in connection with the crime, which occurred in late October at a business in Gastonia, about 20 miles west of Charlotte.
The Gastonia Police Department announced the arrest on Facebook, saying "sometimes cases close themselves."
According to police, Otero was wearing a black face mask when she entered the store armed with a handgun. Then things turned violent.
"The suspect demanded cash from the business and struck the employee in the head with the handgun," police said.

During the assault, Otero's mask fell off and revealed her identity. Police say the employee who was being assaulted immediately recognized her as a former co-worker.
Otero was so flustered by the reveal that she took off without any money -- leaving her mask and gun in the store, police said.
Otero was eventually located and arrested on December 27, after she committed a shoplifting at a local shoe store, according to police.
