The state's new, controversial law banning gender-affirming care for minors goes before the Texas Supreme Court today.
The Supreme Court has not ruled on SB-14 itself, just a judge's initial ruling to block the law from taking effect until the Texas Supreme Court rules on it.
The law bans treatment, including medication and surgery, to those under age 18.
The law is being challenged by a group of parents whose children seek medical treatments and the physicians who want to continue providing the treatments and who stand to lose their license if they disobey the law.
A judge issued an injunction that would have blocked the law from taking effect, but the Texas Attorney General appealed the ruling directly to the Supreme Court which lifted the injunction.
A ruling is not expected until the summer.
