A toxicology report has identified a possible cause for the death of three Kansas City Chiefs fans who were found frozen to death in a backyard in Kansas City in January.
According to the report, the men had drugs in their systems, including cocaine and fentanyl, according to NewsNation, which obtained the report and spoke to family sources.
Family members of the three men, Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson, and David Harrington, shared with NewsNation that police had received the report.
“There have been no additional details of this case revealed to any media, nor are there any plans to at this time. The case remains an ongoing death investigation,” a Kansas City Police Department spokesperson shared earlier this month.
Police still do not believe that foul play was involved in the deaths of the three men, sharing that it is not a homicide investigation.
In a comment to Fox News, the police department doubled down, sharing that it is “100 percent not being investigated as homicide[s].”
However, family members are questioning the investigation by police after the bodies of the three men were found on Jan. 9.
According to NewsNation, the group had gathered with other friends two nights before they were found dead to watch a Kansas City Chiefs football game.
The men were last seen by Jordan Willis, who lived at the home where the three men’s bodies were found. He has since moved out of the home and checked into rehab but maintains he did nothing wrong.
Willis’ attorney shared with NewsNation that he had seen his friends leave his house before he fell asleep and had no idea why they were dead in his backyard.
Still, when police finish their investigation, the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office will have to decide whether or not to charge Willis with any criminal charges.
