Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system causes controversy after Bruce Springsteen tickets for his 2023 tour skyrocketed.
This pricing system allows ticket prices to fluctuate based on supply and demand. As more tickets are bought, the price of the remaining tickets increases.
Sue Thomas shared the news on Friday’s edition of Sue’s News on The Mark Reardon Show. According to Sue, tickets for a middle floor seat for Bruce Springsteen in Tampa are going for $4,400, which is causing furious fans to take to Twitter.
In wake of the pricing controversy, Ticketmaster took the unusual step of releasing some statistics about the costs and percentages for the tour. According to Variety, Ticketmaster says the average price of all tickets sold so far is $262, with 56% being sold for under $200 face value.
Mark Reardon experienced these insane ticket prices when trying to buy tickets to that show. Reardon waited 40 minutes on Ticketmaster’s website before being allowed onto the site. When he was finally in, the amount of available tickets were limited and pricey.
“The remaining prices of the tickets, especially the good ones, went up. This is a huge dispute in the community,” Reardon said.
