(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- You may not be ready, but for scammers, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Whether you like it or not, the holiday shopping season begins earlier each year. While you’re shopping for great deals, scammers are shopping for ways to rip you off.

This is always a time where pressures mount and to snap up a great deal, people often rush their decisions without checking companies out first. Acting too quickly can lead to buyer’s remorse and worse yet – getting scammed.

Here are some tips to keep in mind.

-The lowest price is not always the best deal. Working with companies you know, and trust is invaluable.

-Reduce the pressures. If shopping in person, plan your shopping spree and make a list of what you intend to buy and set a budget.

-Also make sure you know the refund and return policies of the places where you intend to shop.
