Former President Donald Trump is calling for the nation to unite following the assassination attempt at his rally on Saturday night that left him injured and bleeding.

Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday morning, the day after being rushed off the stage by the Secret Service and taken to a hospital.

“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”

Trump went on to say that it was “God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.”

The shooting has left the world in shock, as President Biden, former US presidents, world leaders, politicians, and more have all come together to condemn the shooting.

The Secret Service reports that the shooter and one spectator at the rally were killed while two others were left in critical condition. Trump shared his condolences for those who passed, shortly after the information was made public.

In a post hours after the shooting, Trump described what he saw happen, saying he “was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place.”

The FBI has identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

Trump’s team has also confirmed that he will still be in attendance for the Republican National Convention, which kicks off Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
