Multiple outlets reported this week that a woman accused of decapitating her friend attacked her own attorney in a Wisconsin court.
Fox 6 Milwaukee shared video footage of the incident, which the Green Bay Press Gazette said occurred at around 8:48 a.m. Tuesday.
Taylor Schabusiness, 25, allegedly killed and decapitated Shad Thyrion in Green Bay, Wisc., last February. She can be seen in the video attacking her attorney, identified as Quinn Jolly.
“A Brown County sheriff’s officer tackled Schabusiness moments later, and battled to keep her on the ground as she struggled to get loose,” said the Green Bay Press Gazette. An apparent supporter encouraged Schabusiness to calm down and more sheriff’s officers rushed into the room.
Schabusiness was eventually let out of the courtroom. It did not appear that anyone was injured.
Thyrion was found murdered in his mother’s home last year and, according to a complaint obtained by Law & Crime, his severed head was found in a bucket. Per the Gazette, Green Bay police allege that Schabusiness used a knife to decapitate Thyrion “after the pair had consumed illegal drugs and had sex.”
She was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault, said Fox 6. Schabusiness has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, the outlet added.
According to the Gazette, Schabusiness was in court Tuesday so it could be determined whether she is fit to stand trial. Jolly was expected to introduce testimony from an expert witness regarding his client’s competence, but the witness was unable to attend.

Lawyers and Brown County Judge Thomas Walsh were discussing the case just before Schabusiness’ was seen striking her attorney with an elbow.
“Walsh has ruled previously on the competence question, said the Gazette. “He found in May 2022, after hearing an expert witness for the prosecution and another for the defense, that Schabusiness was mentally competent to participate in her own defense.”
The Tuesday hearing resumed around 10 minutes after Schabusiness’ outburst. When it did, Jolly told the judge he planned to file a motion asking to be removed from the case.
The next hearing in the case has been rescheduled for March 6.
