We’ve all been frustrated while waiting in line, but one “hangry” Canadian woman took her frustrations to the next level, giving the angry Whopper a run for its money, as she inevitably called 911.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba shared the situation in a tweet on Friday, saying that a woman called 911 to report that a new Burger King drive-thru line was taking too long.
“We realize you aren’t you when you’re hangry, but this is not a valid reason to dial 911,” the mounted police said.
The new store is a first in Steinbach, Manitoba, and Burger King Canada replied to the viral tweet from the police, saying that the town has been “waiting for that Whopper.”
Tara Seel, a spokesperson for the Mounties, spoke with CBC about the incident, saying that while the tweet was in good fun, it was raising a serious issue about unnecessary calls for emergency services.
“When you call 911 for a non-emergent matter, that can tie up an operator who could be dealing with an emergency,” Seel said.
As for the woman, the Mounties have not shared what happened to her, but Twitter users did take time to poke fun at the situation.
One user pointed out that Burger King’s slogan is “have it your way” and that she wanted her way to be as fast as possible, while another called the situation an “angry Whopper.” Others asked for closure on the story, wondering if she got her Whopper.

While some seemed to think that the call was justified, Seel confirmed to CBC that an excessive restaurant line does not qualify as an emergency, just like someone she said recently called 911 to inquire about buying a Zamboni.
“At 911, we’re there for you. We want to help you, and this is not at all to discourage anyone from calling,” Seel said. “Just keep in mind the situation that you should be calling 911, and that is when there is an emergency situation where you need immediate assistance.”
