A 47-year-old North Texas woman has been deported to Afghanistan in the first successful use of the U.S. Alien Terrorist Removal Court, after prosecutors accused her of supporting ISIS.
Nazira Haji Zada, a former Fort Worth resident and lawful permanent resident of the U.S., was removed from the country following a ruling by the court. Prosecutors stated Zada provided support to her son and son-in-law, who were arrested in 2024 before they could execute a planned terrorist attack in Oklahoma.
Zada’s defense attorney said she consented to her deportation.
The proceedings marked the first time the United States Alien Terrorist Removal Court has heard a case since Congress established it in 1996. The specialized court is legally permitted to consider classified evidence during its hearings.
