A man villagers in Dejgah, Iran called “Amou Haji,” unofficially dubbed the “World’s Dirtiest Man,” passed away earlier this week at the age of 94.

He hadn’t showered for some 60 years, favored rotten porcupine to eat, and smoked a pipe of animal excrement.

Haji abstained from bathing because he believed soap and water would make him sick, and honestly he may have had a point.

Reports are that a couple of months ago, villagers had “taken Haji to a bathroom to wash” for the first time in years.  Per The Post, it is unclear though if the cleaning attempts were successful or not.

Villagers attributed Haji’s eccentricity to “emotional setbacks” in his youth.
