Dr. Buzz Hollander, a family physician in Hawaii, joins The Mark Reardon Show to discuss Paxlovid and Vice President Harris testing positive for Covid-19.
“The studies that have been done have been under-reported by the FDA, which is disappointing because we don't expect better from Pfizer but we do from the FDA in theory. The numbers look very good in terms of treating the target group that was studied in the initial clinical trial which is people at high risk older or with comorbidities that are unvaccinated because that's who they used in the study now. And that's where you got that almost 90% reduction in hospitalization risk. We don't know as much when you start including more medium risk people,” stated Dr. Hollander.
Later he discussed Vice President Harris, “It seems like very little gain for taking medication in a setting that has not been studied in somebody quadruple vaccinated. We just don't know. So is she more or less likely than that 10% number of having a rebound case? I mean nobody knows, the best immunologist in the world could only make an educated guess.”
