Alderman Jack Coatar (7th ward) joins John Hancock, in for Annie Frey, to address some of the budget and spending issues in the City of St. Louis. He also speaks to crime in the city.
Coatar says we have to address the root causes of crime like poverty and education but in the short term more police and proactive policing is essential. He says, for example, there is legislation on the desk of Mayor Tishaura Jones that restores cuts to police overtime.
