Amy Korte: Illinois residents have sent a message, enough with the corruption

Vice president of policy at Illinois Policy Institute Amy Korte said she is excited to break away from the culture of corruption Illinois has been facing with Mike Madigan as speaker. Everyone is ready to chart some new waters.
Korte is hopeful new ethics reform will be initiated along with a transformation of how the legislatures do business in Springfield.
Newly-elected speaker Welch said he is in favor of term limits for whoever holds the speakership position.
"I think both sides are very interested in this. The state has obviously had corruption dominate its headlines throughout 2020," she said.
There is still a Democratic supermajority in the legislature, so thinking everything will dramatically change is foolhardy. However, Korte said setting expectations to the leaders and representatives by calling, emailing, and texting will make a huge difference.
