During Donald Trump’s Presidency, a team from the Department of Homeland security put together a plan for the southern border, including policies that reduced the number of apprehensions and imposed consequences to those who chose to cross the border illegally. Unfortunately, the current administration wasn’t interested.

“We handed that playbook over to the Biden administration on day one and they promptly decided to throw it in the trash,” says Former Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

The Biden administration cancelled a number of policies, including the border wall system, the Remain in Mexico Program, and more without analysis.
Wolf says this dismissal of the original plan is what led the border to where it is now.

“It’s truly disheartening for those of use who spent four years trying to fix the immigration system,” Wolf says. “To see it all be thrown away in a matter of days is tough to see.”

Chad Wolf joins Marc Cox in Washington D.C. to discuss the challenges at the border and what can be done.
