On Monday Former President Donald Trump announced he would be making an endorsement in Missouri's Senate primary. The speculation has been that Trump would either endorse Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt or Former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. That evening Trump announced that he was supporting "Eric" for Senate. Both candidates reacted by claiming that endorsement. Eric Schmitt joined The Annie Frey Show to explain why he is the "Eric" to which Trump was referring.
"I was very grateful when, when the president called me to inform me and I think if you look at that statement it's very clear he wants somebody who's going to fight for election integrity. Well, that's me, that's been my record," said Schmitt.
Schmitt pointed to his record as evidence he is the fighter President Trump is wanting in the U.S. Senate. He also pointed out that Greitens is not that fighter and pointed to his opponent's resignation as Governor of Missouri to support that claim. The Attorney General closed out the interview by making his best appeal to the people of Missouri to earn their vote. You can hear the full interview in the audio above or in the podcast.
