The St. Louis County Council voted 4-3 to implement a mask mandate this week. However, some are questioning its legality.
Among them is Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt who argues that this mandate is an attempt at fear-mongering. A.G. Schmitt is a proponent of personal responsibility and pointed out that people are still allowed to wear a mask even if a mandate isn't in place. Schmitt's willingness to fight these mandates is reminiscent of Captain America.
“I’m not going anywhere," he says.
True to his word, he filed this lawsuit on Wednesday:
Schmitt maintains that the County Council lacks the authority to implement the mask mandate. He believes it is an attempt to confuse and bully people into compliance. For Schmitt's full thoughts, you can find the podcast here or listen to the audio above.
