US Senate candidate John Wood believes Trump 'significantly contributed' to January 6th Capitol riots

John Wood is a former United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri and former Senior Investigative Counsel on the US House January 6th Committee. Wood worked under the Bush administration and was appointed to the January 6th Committee by “longtime friend” Representative Liz Cheney.

Wood joins the Marc Cox Morning Show to discuss his bid for US Senate in Missouri.

Wood who entered the race only days ago is running as an independent.

“I am a Republican who is running an independent campaign. I am not a Nancy Pelosi person, I can assure you that. In fact, part of why I want to go to the Senate is to help stop the Biden, Schumer, Pelosi agenda,” Wood says. “This is about offering a mainstream alternative in the general election”

Wood shares his thoughts on the role former President Trump played in the events at the capitol on January 6th stating, “I believe he significantly contributed to it.”

“Clearly, his words in his speech right before the attack on the capital inflamed things,” he continues. “I do think that Donald Trump bears some responsibility for what happened.”

Wood believes his platform represents the “views and values” of Missouri voters.
