Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she is begging the teacher’s union to come together to reopen schools

Kids in the city of Chicago are still being forced to learn remotely. It has reached a point where Mayor Lightfoot is now begging the teacher’s union to come together to make a deal so that we can get these schools up and running.

“We’re talking about an impact on millions of students and families across the state of Illinois who are looking for quality education for their kid,” Illinois Representative Tom Demmer said.

The Deputy Minority Leader said if you look on the outskirts of Chicago and more rural areas they have had kids in school and it has been beneficial and working out well for the students and their parents.

The CDC has said there is a way for students to go back to school safely, so if that is what they are saying than it is very reasonable to find a solution to get kids in school.

“We are looking at the potential for long-term impact to child development trajectory that could cause issues for years and years to come,” State Representative Tom Demmer said.
