The Chicago Teachers Union has recently voted to cancel school until their demands are met. The teachers union cites unsafe working conditions due to rising COVID cases. The union wants extra funds to pay for safety measures like masks, testing, and air purification devices. Congresswoman Mary Miller says that Chicago Public Schools already received funds for these measures. However, they spent $32million of those funds on a curriculum focused on Critical Race Theory. The walkout has put many parents in a difficult position.
“Support a candidate who is for school choice.”
Miller believes parents should have flexibility when it comes to their child's education. She says that parents should have the ability to use the funds provided for their child's education at an institution of their choice. Unfortunately, Miller says, Democrats are against school choice.
