Shannon Robinson, 'We started this narrative that my neighbor has a right to my freedom'

During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Louis County put a restriction on the number of people that could be together at a given time. In addition, the County asked residents to send an email to let them of anyone breaking protocol.
Now, almost 2 years since the beginning of it all, over nine hundred pages of emails ratting out fellow citizens have been revealed.

“We started this narrative that my neighbor as a right to my freedom,” says Shannon Robinson, “He has a right to tell the government what I’m doing, he has the right to judge my own health, the right to suggest how I live. All the while, we had no rights in those decisions at all, like wearing masks.”

A lot of the emails that came through were written by those who wanted to stay anonymous, as residents saw an opportunity to attack one another. However, privacy isn’t a luxury when talking about government emails.

“I felt a little bad for some of the people,” says Shannon Robinson, “When you do email the government… that’s public record.”

Shannon Robinson joins the Marc Cox Morning show with all the details.

“I think people are going to enjoy reading these.”
