Paris Dennard reflects on Black History Month

Paris Dennard, RNC National Spokesman, reflected on Black History Month and how the Republican Party played a vital role in black history. February 1st is National Freedom Day, which celebrates the signing of a joint resolution that would lead to the ratification of the 13th Amendment. Dennard says that it was Republicans who pushed this resolution through the House and Senate, and it was signed by Abraham Lincoln, a Republican.

“The Republican Party’s founding is in freedom and opportunity,” says Dennard.

Dennard argues that the recent policy failures of the Democratic Party present a unique opportunity for the GOP to argue their case based on policy. He says policies like defunding police have led to an increase in crime that has disproportionately harmed the black community. The RNC National Spokesman says the Republican Party can show them there is a better way. He had much more to say on this topic and even weighed in on Biden’s pledge to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court. You can find the full interview on the podcast or by listening to the audio above.
