President Biden heads to Glasgow for a make or break climate summit this morning. Between the decreasing faith Americans have in Biden and the world’s opinion of the U.S. after Her departure from the Paris Climate Accord, the President is going into COP26 at a disadvantage.
“Many of the delegates here are very concerned about climate change and what they see is a lack of action by countries around the world to do something about it,” says FOX News Radio’s Simon Owen. “There’s a mood of pessimism in the air.”
Biden was at the G20 Summit in Italy over the weekend, an event that ended with some climate commitments, but not the kind of sweeping measures that some non-profit organizations have been calling for. During the summit, Biden criticized China and Russia for their lack in participation in climate change. Despite those criticisms, Biden himself came up short.
“[Biden] has arrived here with his own plan still stuck in Congress and is yet to be voted on,” Owen says. The British Prime Minister even called out the biggest emitters for not doing enough for climate change or protection.
“This is a nearly two week U.N. summit that’s starting with huge pressure on top of it.”
