Rep. Ann Wagner on 'dangerous, reckless' Iran prisoner swap deal

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 20: House Financial Services Committee member Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO) questions Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge during a hearing in the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill on July 20, 2021 in Washington, DC. Fudge testified before the committee about the role of affordable housing in the context of the proposed bipartisan infrastructure legislation.

On the anniversary of 9/11, the Biden administration issued a blanket waiver for international banks to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money in exchange for five American citizens detained in Iran.

Congresswoman Ann Wagner calls the deal "reprehensible".

"Let me be clear, getting Iran to release innocent hostages is important, it really is. But not at a financial cost that puts millions of lives at risk from Iran being able to expand their nuclear ambitions and continue to fund their terrorist operations by proxy and otherwise around the world."
