Representative Jason Smith (R-MO) the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee joins The Marc Cox Morning Show to discuss the passing of the debt limit deal.
Lawmakers from both political parties have expressed various degrees of concern and approval.
"It's not a perfect agreement but it's way better than the alternative," says Smith.
Smith who voted in favor of the bill says that the benefits of this bill outweigh the consequences of it not passing.
"It had the largest rescission of government programs in the history of the country."
Smith explains the nuances stating, "In my ten years in Congress, this is the first time that spending next year will be less than what it is this year."
