A $78 billion bipartisan tax deal passed in the House with 84 percent support. Representative Jason Smith is a proponent of the bill.

Smith says this is a “pro-grow, pro-worker, pro-American tax bill that supports families and small businesses.”

On the child tax credit portion of the legislation, “What we did was maintain the child tax credit from the Trump tax cuts of 2017, not the child tax credit in the American Rescue Plan… We’re the party of family.”

The bill is currently stalled in the Senate.
