The mayor of St. Louis, Tishaura Jones, had planned on endorsing candidate for Senate Trudy Busch Valentine (D-MO). But no sooner than she got the endorsement out of her mouth, she had to backpedal.
Jones issued this statement yesterday, literally the same day she endorsed Busch Valentine:
So what were the inexcusable offenses Busch Valentine committed? In regards to teaching sexual orientation and gender identity in public schools to kindergarteners through 3rd graders, Busch Valentine said, "I think that's talks between parents and their children..." Yes, the issue Mayor Jones and many Democrat primary voters take issue with, is that sexual talks should take place between kids and parents, not kids and teachers, K-3.
It appears Busch Valentine is an "old-fashioned" democrat, who believes radical ideas such as:
"A woman is a woman. but this transgender thing, that's a different issue." That quote is from a video she posted on Twitter, where she went on to inexcusably claim that kids, "Need the guidance of parents. They need doctors' intervention. I don't think anything should be done until they're adults that lasts forever."
These are old-fashioned ideas from 2-3 years ago that are no longer acceptable.
“I only would say, wait until 18, when a person is an adult, to do everything that wouldn’t allow going back to maybe being the sex that you were, but I totally, totally support transgenders without a doubt,” she said.
Kudos to her, if she would have actually stood by these claims. But she has not. After all, there's a primary on Tuesday in Missouri.
