Senator Roy Blunt: ‘I’m confident that this is a great year for a new Republican to take this seat’

After 26 years in Congress, Senator Roy Blunt announced he will not seek reelection.

Blunt explains that when it comes to running for Senate, the decision made today is one that impacts the next eight years. Although the idea of “retiring” isn’t particularly appealing, he’s looking forward to having more control over his schedule and excited for whatever comes next.

On passing the torch, “I’m confident that this is a great year for a new Republican to take this seat.”

Blunt says he’s not ready to endorse anyone but he believes that the Missouri GOP will find the right candidate.
