President Trump campaigned on the intent to remove U.S.
troops from Afghanistan. Would things have been different if Trump were in office and moved forward with that plan?
Dakota Wood, a Senior Research Fellow for Defense Programs at the Heritage Foundation, says the difference between President Trump’s plan and President Biden’s plan is that Trump wanting to leave Afghanistan was conditions based.
After assessing the situation Trump decided it was better for us to remain on the ground in some capacity as opposed to complete withdrawal.
Biden moved on a timeline, without a full assessment of conditions on the ground, or coordination with allies.
Furthermore, Biden pulled the military out before civilians.
Execution is everything.
