Missouri US Senator Roy Blunt said he decided not to spend his 70's in Congress and is looking forward to retirement.
Blunt is excited for the next chapter of his life. He didn't want to run for re-election and is ready to see what the GOP has to offer for his seat.
Government is as divided as it could possibly be right now, even within our own parties.
"Our greatest asset is always them," Blunt said on Democrats being the reason Republicans usually come together and work as a unit.
The next time his seat will be up will be the presidential election in 2024.
Blunt said this will be a good year for a Republican candidate to rise and take his seat.
"We have to once again return some balance to this government," he said.
The Biden plan so far has been very progressive. We've seen the COVID bill get through with no Republican support. Will the filibuster remain in-tact?
Blunt said removing the filibuster would be a tragedy. He said there is a long list of why this is a dangerous game the Democrats are playing.
"You lose the character of the Senate, where you really have to think about things," he said.
