Missouri Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick joined Marc Cox to explain why his office is pushing back on Vladimir Putin and Russia following the invasion of Ukraine.
"We run pension plans for state employees, and pension plans have billions of dollars of assets, that are invested in a variety of investments. One of the things that pensions invest in are global emerging markets, and Russia has historically been included in global emerging markets allocations," says Fitzpatrick who is on the board of the Missouri State Employee Retirement system. "I intend to make a motion to prohibit the purchase any Russian assets moving forward, but also discuss the most appropriate way to divest that we currently have."
Fitzpatrick doesn't want to go it alone, "I call on other Missouri pension plans to do the same thing."
