8th District Missouri Congressman Jason Smith announced his bid for re-election to the House of Representatives this week, ending speculation that he would officially enter the crowded field of Republicans looking to replace exiting Senator Roy Blunt.
"I'm sorry I kept you on pins-and-needles," joked Smith with Marc Cox. "We just wanted to make sure we were doing the right thing for the people of Missouri and the good people of the 8th District that have trusted me for the past several years to represent them."
Smith is bullish on the Republican party re-taking the House in the November election, "I've been working with Kevin [McCarthy] and recruiting some of the best conservatives and candidates across this country and doing everything we can to fire Speaker Pelosi, and there's not many people that work harder than Kevin McCarthy. There's no one in the House that works harder than him,' says Smith. "He will be the Speaker of the House."
