Rodney Boyd, 97.1 Insider, joins Marc Cox for his weekly visit. This week, the proposed 'ranked choice' primary voting proposal has caught his attention, especially the wide-ranging political backgrounds of the people who seem to support the plan.
"It was an interesting cohort of people that, I still can't get my mind around," says Boyd. "There appear to be people who are card-carrying members of the Federalist Society and people who are from historical groups like the NAACP that seem to like this."
Currently, voters in primary elections in Missouri choose either a Republican or Democrat ballot and choose their candidate based on party, "you vote for your favorite Republican or Democrat and then you come back in the general and you sort of hash it out."
"This, from what I've seen, eliminates the option or requirement to go in and pith either [party ballot], and there's one ballot that lists everybody," says Boyd.
