Editor at large for the Wall Street Journal Gerard Baker joins the Mark Reardon Show to discuss the latest on Britain’s newest Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who originally lost to Liz Truss. He managed to beat the likes of Boris Johnson to secure this position.
“The [British] Conservative Party chose someone who was palpably unfit for the Office of Prime Minister. She came in, ignored all the warnings everybody had given her about the kind of economic policies she’d like to pursue, and went ahead and did it anyway. In the process, she proceeded to do enormous damage to the economy,” Baker stated on Liz Truss’s short run as Prime Minister.
Later, he said, “Rishi Sunak s at least competent, whether or not he can repair the damage that has been done, not just by Lizz Truss, but by the consecutive [British] Conservative Party over the years. That’s the big open question.”
