Following startling revelations of clergy abuse in France, Pope Francis expressed "shame" at the scale of the abuse within the church. An independent study released this week estimated that 330-thousand children were victims of sexual abuse linked to the church from 1950-2020.
Fox News Radio's Simon Owen told Marc Cox, "a vast number, and detailed in this investigation that's been going on in France for the past three years."
In his weekly Vatican audience, Francis said, "it is also my shame, our shame, my shame, for the incapacity of the church for too long to put them at the center of its concerns."
Owen said the lead investigator said the abuse was, "systemic and he said the Church showed 'cruel indifference to victims."
