WATCH: Lights go out at Busch Stadium in middle of 9th inning

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - In a game where the pitching was anything but "lights out," the Busch Stadium lights went out in the middle of the ninth inning on Monday night.

It happened with two outs in the top of the inning and St. Louis Cardinals closer Alex Reyes pitching to New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso.

Here's how it was called on KMOX, and on both the home and away TV broadcasts:

Luckily, the Busch Stadium state-of-the-art LED lights were switched back on in seconds and the game resumed.

"A little bizarre. That was weird," Arenado said when asked about the sudden darkness. "Thank God for the new LED lights that we have. You just turn them on and off whenever you want, I guess."

St. Louis held on to win 6-5, but the reaction on social media lasted much longer and was pretty entertaining:
