Former U.S. Secretary of State now an NFL owner

Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice joined the incoming ownership group for the Denver Broncos.

In June, a group led by Walmart’s Rob Walton, including the co-CEO of Ariel Investments and chair of the board for Starbucks Corp., agreed to purchase the Broncos for $4.65 billion, a record for the sale of an American sports team.

Sue shares some facts about Rice’s ties to Colorado: “The Rice family…moved to Denver when she was 12, and she went to the University of Denver. Her dad was a football coach, and she’s known as a big fan and has great knowledge of the game.”

In other news, the first images from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope were released today, which includes a 13 billion-year-old star from the faintest and most distant galaxy.

“These are the best photos we’ve seen yet,” Sue said. “Essentially, it’s just brighter and you can see more. It really is incredible.”

Lastly, Sue reveals today’s random fact: Honey Nut Cheerios does not contain any nuts! Instead the cereal uses a fake almond flavor that comes mostly from processed peach pits.
