A pitch timer, limits on defensive shifts and bigger bases are coming to Major League Baseball in 2023, according to a release from the league. Scott Jennings and Joe Arnold join Mark Reardon to talk about the changes.

The decision came after reports that the league has struggled to bring in attendance above pre-pandemic levels. These three rule changes are meant to improve the pace of play, action and safety.
“I’m hopeful that it speeds up the game, so you eliminate the slogs,” Jennings said. “But I hope it doesn’t take away from the strategy or the beauty or the rhythm of the game, as we know it.”
