The 2019 NHL Draft came to a close yesterday and the Steve Yzerman's first draft as the Detroit Red Wings general manager finished with 11 new players: five forwards, five defensemen and a netminder.

Yzerman made one trade, flipping the 143rd pick to the Buffalo Sabers in exchange for picks 177 and 191.

Round 1, Pick 6

Moritz Seider, D

Age: 18

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 207 pounds

The German defenseman put up six points in 29 games for the Mannheim Eagles. He's a solid skater who isn't afraid to throw his body around, but that tends to get him out of position. His ability to be effective at both ends will help him crack the roster in the near future.

Round 2, Pick 35

Antti Tuomisto, D

Age: 18

Height: 6-4

Weight: 195

Tuomisto tallied 35 points for the Assat U20 team in 2018-19, nine goals, 26 assists, in 45 games. He has a hard, accurate shot from the point and is strong with the puck on his stick. Similarly to Seider, he's an effective two-way D-man.

Round 2, Pick 54

Robert Mastrosimone, F

Age: 18

Height: 5-10

Weight: 170

The hard working Mastrosimone averaged more than a point per game. His 60 points in 54 games was tied for 11th most in the USHL. His 15 points in the playoffs was the most in the USHL. The 18-year-old has a quick shot and utilizes his toe drag to evade defenders.

Round 2, Pick 60

Albert Johansson, D

Age: 18

Height: 6-foot

Weight: 168

Johansson played in the Swedish SuperElit League, scoring 29 points in 40 games for the Färjestad BK. The smooth skating defenseman has a cool, calm demeanor on the ice and isn't afraid to unleash a blast from the point.

Round 3, Pick 66

Albin Grewe, F

Age: 18

Height: 6-foot

Weight: 187

Grewe is the definition of a grinder. He's a hard working, defensive-minded forward that does everything in his power to get under other players skin. The trash talking forward backed it up, scoring 34 points in 25 games for Djurgården IF in the SuperElit League.

Round 4, Pick 97

Ethan Phillips, F

Age: 18

Height: 5-9

Weight: 175

The Canadian forward is smart defensively and knows when to make plays. Phillips' 2018-19 campaign with the Sioux Falls Stampede ended with 43 points in 50 games.

Round 5, Pick 128

Cooper Moore, D

Age: 18

Height: 6-1

Weight: 185

The lefty had 31 points in 28 games in the USHS-Prep league in 2018-19. He is set to play for the Chilliwack Chiefs next season and is committed to North Dakota for the 2020-21 season.

Round 6, Pick 159

Elmer Söderblom, F

Age: 17

Height: 6-7

Weight: 220

The Swedish forward put up 17 points in 44 games with Frölunda HC in SuperElit. The 18-year-old has great hands, isn't afraid to crash the net and is always looking to lay a big hit.

Round 6, Pick 177

Gustav Berglund, D

Age: 18

Height: 6-2

Weight: 194

The Wings add another right-handed D-man with Berglund, who was held pointless in nine games with the Frölunda HC U20's, but with the U18's he had 23 points in 23 games.

Round 7, Pick 190

Kirill Tyutyayez, F

Age: 18

Height: 5-9

Weight: 146

The 18-year-old Russian is a point machine. He racked up 114 points in 31 games with the Spartakovets Yekaterinburg U18 in 2017-18, and was a point per game in 60 games with Avto Yekaterinburg in 2018-19.

Round 7, Pick 191

Carter Gylander, G

Age: 18

Height: 6-5

Weight: 172

The Wings end the draft with back-to-back picks. Gylander played in 22 games, stopping .915 percent of the shots he faced and gave up 2.43 goals a game. His big frame allows him to shut down angles and he's able to utilize his reach. He's surprisingly athletic for his size.
