Joshua Langford wants to give it one more go -- and Tom Izzo wants to help him try.
The oft-injured shooting guard is hoping to suit up for Michigan State in the upcoming season.
A five-star recruit in Michigan State's loaded class in 2016, Langford missed most of the 2018-19 season and all of last season with a recurring foot injury. Izzo said he's back to running and shooting, so there's reason to believe Langford could play in 2020.
"It’s just such an unknown with him,” Izzo said. “I’m trying not to get overexcited ... but he deserves to have something good happen to him. After what happened last year, it’s just so hard to get excited about it. But he seems to be ahead of where he was, No. 1. No. 2, he’s doing really well mentally. He had a tough year, man."
If he does return, Langford will join Rocket Watts and Aaron Henry (unless he turns pro) as the lead players in Michigan's backcourt.
"He talked about wanting to come back,” Izzo said. “I said, ‘Sure.’ Somehow, some way, if he can play, I owe it to him.”
