Tuesday was a sad day for all of us. We said good bye to Jamie Samuelsen, who passed away earlier this month after a 19-month battle with colon cancer.

Jamie touched a lot of lives in Detroit. The outpouring of love for his family in the wake of his passing has made that abundantly clear. So have all the words of admiration from his listeners and all the tributes from our local teams

Matthew Stafford, who got to know Jamie through Fox 2's coverage of the Lions, offered a touching message on Tuesday afternoon, before taking questions during a conference call with local media.

"I just wanted to say, it's not lost on me that today's a tough day for you guys, and really for all of us. Losing Jamie here recently is tough," Stafford said. "I had so much fun talking to him during training camp out on the field with Dan (Miller) and Woj and those guys. It’s going to be tough not having him around.

"I know today is a tough day for his family, so I just want you all to know that I’m thinking about you guys and we’re all thinking about him and his family. He was an awesome guy."

Stafford’s nice words much appreciated by Jamie’s family and friends. Touching comments from a classy guy about a classy guy, gone way too soon. pic.twitter.com/7M43jZ3Y7u

Matt Patricia Calls In To Pay Tribute To Jamie: 'I Just Felt Compelled'

During his final appearance on 97.1 The Ticket, Jamie asked his listeners to do one thing for him: get a colonoscopy before the age of 50. Many have already listened.

To further the cause, Jamie's family asks you to consider a donation to Colorectal Cancer Alliance or PALtown, the fundraising arm of Colontown, an amazing patient advocate group run by cancer survivors that was of great help to Jamie and his wife Christy during his battle.
