Steve Yzerman said he
wanted draft picks at the trade deadline, and he got his first early Monday morning by dealing Mike Green to the Oilers.
Edmonton will send Detroit its fourth-round pick in 2020, which will jump to its third-rounder in 2021 if the Oilers reach the conference finals this season and Green plays in at least half of their remaining games.
The Oilers are currently in second place in the Pacific Division with 20 games to play.

February 24, 2020 Green, 34, was in the final year of the two-year, $10.75 million contract he signed with Detroit in 2018. The Red Wings will retain half of his remaining salary.
The Oilers also included veteran center Kyle Brodziak in the deal to help balance the financials. Brodziak retired before this season due to a back injury, so the Wings can place his $1.15 million cap hit, which expires after this season, on long-term injured reserve.
The trade deadline is Monday at 3 p.m. Other names to watch include Andreas Athanasiou, Trevor Daley and Luke Glendening.
