The Astros’ cheating scandal reached new heights over the weekend. In addition to widely circulated videos involving sign-stealing and a code for trash can banging, speculation has now hovered to the involvement of the players.

From Josh Reddick’s “confetti” covering a line shape on his tank top in a post-game interview to Jose Altuve warning his teammates to be careful with his jersey moments before a post-game celebration, the scandal has inspired many to dig for possible evidence and post it on social media. The crosshairs have naturally shifted to the players’ involvement.

Bogey offered a poignant take on Major League Baseball’s protection of its stars when discussing Altuve.

“That, to me, it got me focused on Rob Manfred and Major League Baseball. [They] do the investigation, fine the [team] $5 million, [fire] the GM and manager, and no players get suspended. It leads me to believe that Major League Baseball is protecting some of their young stars.”

Jamie countered with a possible deniability that some players may have.

“If a guy uses steroids and he tests positive for steroids you have a positive steroid test. If Jose Altuve lays off a 2-0 pitch because there’s a bang on a drum, how can you prove that he laid off the pitch because there was a bang on the drum? Maybe that’s his plausible deniability.”

The team’s pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on February 13th.
