Dak is back? Prescott drops hint on if he'll start vs. Lions

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After practice on Thursday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said the quiet part out loud before attempting to retract what he had just said. But even he can't fool anyone when it comes to his status for Sunday's home tilt against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

"I am," Prescott said, when asked if he'll start on Sunday.

It was the news we'd been waiting to get official confirmation on all week, and then Prescott, realizing he had just let the cat out of the bag, added with a smile, "at least, I think I am (starting)."

Nice try, Dak. But whatever gamesmanship might have been left was already gone the moment you spoke with reporters after Sunday's loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia.

"That's my plan. Obviously got to see the doc, but, yeah, that's kind of my plan," Prescott said last Sunday of his intentions to play against Detroit. "Felt as food as it did (Saturday). Just on track."

Prescott, who was listed as a full participant on Thursday's practice report, said that he wasn't on a pitch count during practice and he doesn't have any restrictions. He was medically cleared to participate in a full practice before Wednesday's mock game.

"I had a good practice today. I did everything. I wasn't limited by any means. There wasn't a pitch count. We were full-go. … I'm right where I need to be," Prescott said.

The Cowboys have been without Prescott since the season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a fractured thumb. He had surgery to repair the injury and has been rehabbing ever since.

In his absence, backup Cooper Rush has filled in admirably, leading Dallas to a 4-1 record over the last five weeks as the starter.
