Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn has plenty of ties to USC. His sister went there. So did a bunch of his former NFL teammates. He spent the past four seasons coaching the LA Chargers and said Thursday "half of my family is in California."

"So of course those guys have talked to me, and that's flattering," Lynn said.

But Lynn said he hasn't had any contact with the actual university on the heels of a report that boosters of USC football had reached out to him about the program's head coaching vacancy.

"I’m surprised something like this even went public," Lynn said. "No, I haven’t spoken with USC at all. My focus is one million percent right here with the Detroit Lions. I love what Coach Campbell and (GM) Brad Holmes are doing, the Ford Family, I love the grit in our players, hell, I love this fan base. We want to win for these people and we’re going to build a consistent winner here, but this is where my focus is right now and we have a hell of an opportunity this weekend to go get our first win at Soldier Field, a place I love to play at."

Lynn, 52, joined the Lions this year to team up with Campbell and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, two of his former players during his time with Cowboys. He certainly isn't ditching them midseason. Asked if would consider the head coaching job at USC after the season, Lynn said, “Right now I don’t have enough time to think about something like that.”

Lynn has spent the duration of his 22-year coaching career in the NFL, including four years as head coach of the Chargers before he was let go after last season. Asked if he wants to be a head coach again in the future, Lynn smiled and said, "Right now I just want to be a successful coordinator.”
