Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has reportedly been suspended two games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Dan Campbell is confident in Detroit's offense without him.
The suspension was reported Monday night by ESPN. Campbell said Tuesday morning on 97.1 The Ticket that he's not supposed to comment on the matter "until the league gives judgement and it comes out on their end."
"All I can tell you is, we’re prepared to not have him and we’ll be fine. That’s why we got Leaf (Kalif Raymond) and (Amon-Ra) St. Brown and (Sam) LaPorta and TP (Tim Patrick) and Allen Robinson, among others, with David Montgomery, (Jahmyr) Gibbs, so we’ll be fine," said Campbell. "We’ll move on. When this thing comes down, if it does, when it comes down, we’ll be fine."
Williams is the Lions' second-leading receiver with 361 yards through six games and ranks second in the NFL in yards per catch. But to Campbell's point, the Lions just hung 31 points on one of the league's best defenses with Williams making one catch for minus-four yards in their win over the Vikings.
In that game, St. Brown caught eight passes, Gibbs caught four, Raymond and Montgomery caught three, Patrick added two and LaPorta caught one. They combined for 284 yards and two touchdowns on 21 receptions.
The Lions rank second in the NFL in scoring offense and third in total offense.
