A couple weeks after losing defensive line coach Todd Wash to the Panthers, it appears Dan Campbell and the Lions have found his replacement.
The team is reportedly hiring Penn State defensive line coach John Scott Jr., who will presumably fill the same role in Detroit.
Among his stops prior to Penn State, where he spent the last three seasons, Scott was a defensive coach for the Jets from 2015-16.
He has a long track record of developing NFL talent in college, including first-round defensive linemen at both Penn State (Odafe Oweh) and South Carolina (Javon Kinlaw).
Penn State head coach James Franklin confirmed Scott's departure from the program via a statement on Twitter Monday night.
"I would like to thank John for everything he has contributed to our program over the past three years," Franklin said. "John is a great coach and also a great man. I am grateful for his friendship and the impact he has had on our student-athletes.
This was a great opportunity for him in the NFL and I wish him and his family nothing but the best."
