Toward the end of a play at Tuesday's practice, Lions defensive lineman John Cominsky got rolled up on, fell backward, then slowly returned to his feet. He hobbled away from the pile, then went down again. He was carted off when he got up.

Cominsky may not play again this season.

He will undergo surgery for a torn MCL, per the NFL Network, and will likely be out for five to six months. The hope is that Cominsky could return for the playoffs if the Lions make it that far, but he would face an uphill climb to get back into game shape.

From the looks of it, his season -- and perhaps his time with the Lions -- is over.

Cominsky took a pay cut entering the final year of his two-year contract after his production dipped last season. He had two sacks and 29 quarterback pressures in 16 games last year, following four sacks and 44 pressures in 14 games in 2022.

Cominsky, 28, was still sturdy against the run last season, and his coaches and teammates love him for all the dirty work he does up front. He faces a long road back this season.
