Not a great start for the third overall pick.

The Lions drafted Jeff Okudah third overall hoping he could immediately step in to their defense.

His debut will have to wait at least a week.

Okudah is unlikely to play against the Bears Sunday due to a hamstring injury he suffered last week, according to the NFL Network. He sustained the injury Wednesday and on Friday was listed as questionable for the season-opener.

While it's a disappointment for Okudah, it might not alter the gameplan for the Lions all that much. The team was prepared to roll with Desmond Trufant and Amani Oruwariye as its starting corners on the outside, with Justin Coleman in the slot.

Okudah had a bumpy training camp, which was partly expected given a) the challenge of adjusting to the cornerback position in the NFL and b) the NFL's truncated offseason program.

Kenny Golladay (hamstring) is also unlikely to play for the Lions on Sunday, while RT Halapoulivaati Vaitai (foot) has already been ruled out.
