At the right price, Pistons GM Troy Weaver has shown an affinity for former lottery picks.
The price was wrong for Marvin Bagley III.
The Pistons rebuffed a trade offer from the Kings that would have sent Bagley to Detroit in exchange for rookie Saddiq Bey, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
This is no surprise. Drafted 19th overall last year, Bey looks like a building block for Detroit. He's averaging 10.5 points per game and leads all rookies in three-pointers.
Bagley, meanwhile, is in the midst of another injury-plagued season, his third in the NBA. He was averaging 13.9 points and 7.4 rebounds before going down recently with a hand injury.
In his first season at the helm, Weaver has acquired a trio of former top-10 picks in Jahlil Okafor, Josh Jackson and Dennis Smith Jr. He also reportedly inquired about a trade for Aaron Gordon.
Bagley was drafted second overall by the Kings in 2018.
