Jameson Williams got a 15-yard penalty and an earful from his receivers coach for flipping a football in the face of Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson in the Lions' win over Chicago on Thanksgiving.

A week later, Stevenson got a much heavier punishment from the NFL for his role in the incident. When Williams went out of bounds on the Bears' sideline, Stevenson stuck out his foot and tripped him -- which prompted Williams' reaction.

After reviewing the play, the NFL's disciplinary office fined Stevenson $19,697. No fine or further discipline was assessed to Williams.

Williams stood up after the game and apologized to his teammates for the penalty, which drew praise from both Dan Campbell and Jared Goff. The third-year receiver has 39 catches for 710 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Stevenson has nine passes defended and a pick in his second season with the Bears.
